{The Gray Kid}
The Gray Kid's (aka Steve Cooper) debut full-length album …5, 6, 7, 8 (in stores now) is a fresh jolt of indie rap dance that finds influence in everything from Mick Jagger, L.L. Cool J, Noel Gallagher, to Eminem. My favorite tracks include the UK grime flavored "I Feel Fly" and "Lonely Lov", which features an infectious New Order bassline.
The Gray Kid's story goes: he splits from his band in early 2005, moves to New York City, and begans working under a different guise. He is described as a 'mic wrecking, song writing, hip shaking, guitar playing, soul crooning, music making dynamo who drops electrified, Jeep-beat anthems that’ll shake your speakers and make you shake your ass'. With catchy melodies and magnetic hooks his self-styled underground pop has quickly been winning fans of all genres.
The Gray Kid performs at The Key Club in L.A. on August 10th, 17th, and 24th.
